I have all but given up on what used to be one of my favorite shows, The Daily Show with John Stewart. It was unbearable to watch during the elections, I couldn't take the constant slams to Sarah & the Bush administration. It was my choice to stop watching. It's cool, but I thought the show would start up on the new administration. They didn't. We're still slamming the republicans. I was there, laughing about Bush, just like everyone else. But now I want to laugh at Obama & his administration. Turnabout is fair play. So now I know that the Daily Show is not about just pokin' fun at politics, it has an agenda. How sad. I do love to laugh.

I don't understand why I can laugh at Bush, but we're not allowed to laugh at Obama. Has there been a line drawn in the comedy sand?

I never understood the double standard either Kel. But it reminds me of a joke I heard.
ReplyDeleteAfter church in Minnesota one day a couple of the guys were outside joking around telling Hans and Sven jokes, when the pastor overheard and went over and said " now look fellas, I like a good joke as well as the next guy but these "Norweigan" jokes have got to stop, you can't make fun of any kind of people." Fella #1 askes "well how about a polish joke?" "no" says the pastor. Fella #2 asks " well how about a Hittite joke?" The pastor thinks about it a while and says "ok, since there are no more Hittites in the modern world I think you could tell a Hittite joke without offending anybody, so lets hear your Hittite joke"
Fella #2 says " OK there were these two Hittites,... Hans and Sven...."
Ha ! its still funny.
The Dems need to loosen up and learn to laugh at themselves as much as they laugh at the republicans.

ReplyDeleteIs there an organization here in Sidney who can help the poor,homeless, jobless? I have been providing a roof and food for a young man who is homeless and indegent. One impulse is to simply boot him out, but I worry that he has no where to go. I was able to assist him in getting a social security card & ID so he can work. His verbal skills & ADD seem to hold him back when searching for employment, which needs to be walking distance. This kid does not want to be a burden on us, and is at a loss as to where to go. What would you do?
