The following letter was sent to our local paper and it is causing a uproar deluxe.
Read the letter and tell me what is so wrong with what he said? Who's butt hurts from this letter? We Know Ibs Young has a personal gripe and she has made it clear with her response letter to the editor, God Bless America! Freedom of speech! Which Ms. Young is entitled to. But what does everyone else think?....
Please be SPECIFIC as to which sentance is so bad.
Remember, be specific.....
Editor,
What’s wrong with Sidney being a nice little town to live, work, and raise our kids in? What’s wrong with having a handy bus? Do we really need a Department of transportation? What’s wrong with having a handy bus driver instead of a head of transportation department person? What’s wrong with having a building inspector rather than chief building official? What’s wrong with having an animal control person instead of a code enforcement officer? What’s wrong with the city manager having a super good secretary instead of a human resource director? What’s wrong with doing what we have to do to take care of business and leave it at that? What’s wrong with doing the things that we can pay for and don’t look to the state and federal governments for grant money that comes with hundreds of pages of rules and regulations to follow? Like the 1.2 million plus cost of extending the present walking path that costs in the low 10s of thousands. That’s the way it was when Marlin Ferguson was city manager. The only reason the Department of Public Services position was created was that when the long time supervisor of the power plant retired, Mr. Ferguson realized he was not knowledgeable about power generation. That is the reason council created that job. It should have been eliminated years ago. I like Gary Person and I think he would be a good city manager if he would do it full-time and let the chamber take care of economic development. When a prospect drops in, the city can do whatever they can for them, instead we are all slobbering at the government kool-aid trough to get something for nothing, but it comes at a great price. What’s wrong with just being a nice little town that’s a good place to live, work and raise our kids?

Ding Dang! You have major politics going on like we do in our town! Sounds like you need to have a shootout at the boot hill cemetery!
ReplyDeleteGo Sidney!
EDI Spec./accts rec (taken from your profile)is an Electronic Data Interchange Specialist - sounds pretty techy to me. Not that there is anything wrong with that.
ReplyDelete"Specialist" in there own mind. I wonder if Bob realize what his darling daughter are posting on the internet? I would be ashamed of them.
ReplyDeleteWho posts anonymously? A coward. Bravo Argonauts! Perhaps these anonymous cowards can take a lesson. :)
ReplyDeleteNo one is addressing What is wrong with this letter!!! Maybe there is nothing wrong with this letter.
ReplyDeleteWell...I still want to try the super slimming body shaper...supposed to take 2 dress sizes right off of ya!! omg..act now and get it in black AND nude...I'm on it....
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing wrong with it, its sweet and harkens back to a better time, a time in which we could return if we want to do so.
ReplyDeleteIf there are disagreements with this letter and it is expressed here, will you and your sister attack or discuss? It seems you don't like to agree to disagree.
ReplyDeleteI would very much like to hear the disagreements. People are in an uproar over it and I want to know why. It is impossible to attack an anony. I welcome your disagreements and I hope I can handle being open to discussion. I can not and will not speak for any of my followers.
ReplyDeleteThe question is "whats wrong with having an animal control person, instead of a code enforcement officer". Such a small portion of her job is "dog catching". The larger part has to do with enforcing codes, such as, weeds, trash, unlicensed vehicles, encroachment violations, and other abuses of city ordinances. Violations of ordinances affect everyone who lives here or visits here, and it is not always about your neighbors barking dog. These ordinances need to be enforced equally, because it benefits us all. Because of all of this, I think this is a very neccesary job to the whole community. Thats my opinion, whats yours?
ReplyDeleteI agree with your opinion. Now I understand your gripe with his opinion. Makes sense.
